WELCOME TO MY PROFESSIONAL CV

MY JOURNEY
Hi, there my name is Vesna. I am a 21-year old full-time university student about to take flight onto my next endeavour in life.
I have been working part-time at an extraordinary boutique agency that has taught me the importance of knowledge and culture within the Marcomm Feild.
I currently work at a boutique agency where I'm so lucky to be in a team that exposes me to all different aspects of the media process such as planning, strategy, media buying, and client interaction. While I mainly work on post reporting and contacting media I am starting to get more involved in client activity.
Currently, I'm in my 4th year of university studying a double bachelor's degree in Marketing Management and Communications in Advertising at the University of Canberra.
What I love about the communications industry is its ability to stretch your mind in both a creative yet systematic way. Yes, it may be challenging at times but the work is very rewarding for me especially as a student going into the professional workplace.

Before I got into my job, I knew I had to equip myself with the best skillset and knowledge to be able to work with a team. I have participated in sporting events where I volunteered my own time over the past 7 years to help out with fundraising events, I have also been a dedicated member of the UCOMMs society since my first year of attending university which has helped me grow to have a great understanding of the communications industry. If I hadn't pushed myself to gain this knowledge and network to the extent I have today, I am certain I wouldn't have the experience or work dedication needed to work in the Marcomm Feild.

COMMUNITY & ACADEMIC INVOLVEMENT
UCOMMS (2018- PRESENT)
Role:
Events Manager 2019
Treasurer & Events Assistant 2020
Treasurer 2021

When I joined UCOMMS as a minor in my first year I did not expect to be granted a spot on the committee in my second semester at university. I was delighted and super excited to be apart of the team. Over the years I have been in charge of event management and treasury roles and have a great understanding of the system. It's so fulfilling to see the new faces of UCOMMS members joining the scene every semester, for the community events, as well as all of the things that I have learned from being a part of UCOMMS. This is probably the biggest thing I will miss once I graduate from university and it has had the biggest impact in terms of preparing myself for the workplace.

COMMS BALL (2019)
Role:
Vice President & Treasurer

Comms Ball is the biggest event of the year for Marcomm students. In 2019 Comms Ball was held at Hotel Realm and was overall a successful event. I was given the opportunity to be vice president through UCOMMS. The event organisation was full of amazing energetic volunteers for the most part and we all chipped in to make Comms Ball as iconic as successful as it has always been for Comms Students. If anything, being the vice-president of Comms Ball has taught me that you should always appreciate the work and effort that goes into projects because it may not look like a lot but it is.

INVOLVMENT IN THE CROATIAN COMMUNITY (2015-2019)
The Croatian community has been a part of my life since I was 15 years old.
In my time of being apart of the Croatian community, I have experienced things that I would say not many other people have experienced.
I have learned some iconic traditional folk dances and performed them in front of no other than Kolinda Grabar (the previous president of Croatia) in 2017.
I participated and made it to the national finalist for Miss Croatia Australia.
And finally, I have traveled as far as the Gold Coast to perform traditional folk dances at annual Balls in different states.
While I no longer participate in such activities going along this journey forced me to push boundaries that I had never pushed before.

STUDY ABROAD ( 2019)
Every year 20 Communications students are elected to participate in the annual Singapore and Malaysia trip. I am grateful that I was awarded such an opportunity, that caught me by surprise. If anything this trip taught me more about myself, than anyone else had.

The culture shock was a real feeling and we had to go about our day making the most of the exploration and the work that was required of us.

The different industries we were exposed to made an impact on my perceptions in regard to how brands work and how agencies work, and both had different kinds of appeal.
